The Role of Technology in Higher EdIn this project, I examined how technology is shaping the current and future state of higher education. The focus was on analyzing existing trends—such as increased online learning, digital courseware, and learning management systems—and understanding their long-term impact on teaching and institutional practices. I explored how colleges and universities are using tech to expand access, personalize learning, and improve student outcomes. This video highlights my ability to interpret research, synthesize information, and critically evaluate the broader implications of technology on educational systems.
This work closely aligns with the goals of the National Education Technology Plan (NETP), a policy initiative from the U.S. Department of Education that outlines how technology can enhance learning, promote equity, and drive better outcomes for all learners. The NETP emphasizes personalized learning, educator development, strong leadership in tech integration, and data-driven instruction. By exploring these themes in a higher education context, my project supports the broader mission of preparing learners and institutions for success in a technology-driven future. Digital Tools for Digital Citizens: A Google Drive ProjectCitizen This project offers students a hands-on experience with various Google Drive tools such as Documents, Forms, Sheets, and Slides. Through this activity, students not only engage with these digital tools but also learn about digital citizenship, understanding how to responsibly navigate and use online resources.
The main task involves students creating a form, which could be a survey or questionnaire, based on the knowledge they've acquired. This form will then be distributed to 20 respondents, allowing students to gather real-world data. Once the respondents complete the form, the collected information will be automatically organized and analyzed in Google Sheets, providing students with valuable insights into data management and analysis. Furthermore, students will utilize Google Slides to present their findings in a visually engaging manner. This part of the project encourages students to communicate their results effectively, enhancing their presentation and storytelling skills. Overall, this project not only immerses students in the practical use of Google Drive tools but also fosters digital citizenship, data analysis, and presentation skills, all of which are crucial in today's digital age.
